En 2004, un nouveau groupe de cinq chanteurs fait ses débuts en Corée du Sud. Le plus jeune a quinze ans, le plus âgé dix-sept. Ils se sont rencontrés par hasard, réunis par la plus grosse agence de production du pays. Ils vont devenir le groupe le plus célèbre de toute l’Asie, battant tous les records de popularité. Et les meilleurs amis du monde. Mais, pour trois d’entre eux, la liberté compte plus encore. En 2009, entouré d’une pression médiatique énorme, le groupe vole en éclat et les ennuis commencent. Procès, déchirements, l’industrie musicale coréenne ne compte pas laisser s’envoler ainsi la poule aux œufs d’or…
Un récit inspiré de l’histoire du groupe TVXQ!, stars incontestées de la deuxième génération de K-pop, éternellement regrettés, longtemps pris pour modèles par la génération d’aujourd’hui. C’est l’histoire d’une amitié hors du commun. En particulier celle de Junsu, Yoochun et Jaejoong, les trois « fugitifs », qu’une impressionnante armada de fans de tous âges et de tous pays soutiendra sans relâche dans leur défi : continuer à rassembler les foules à contre-courant d’un star system qu’ils ont osé bousculer. Un parcours de découverte où se confrontent les générations, entre intérêts économiques, respect des traditions et quête de reconnaissance individuelle. Ce récit documenté et vivant, donnant aussi la parole aux fans, est une excellente introduction à l’univers de la K-pop. Au-delà du groupe ici pris comme exemple, il permet de comprendre la fascination qu’exercent aujourd’hui des groupes comme BTS et leur incroyable succès planétaire. |

Passionnée de musique de tous bords, élève du Conservatoire en chant lyrique, elle est mère d’une adolescente fan de K-pop. Elle découvre la musique coréenne en 2017, puis la Corée.
Traductrice de formation, elle a étudié la littérature anglo‑saxonne, puis la gestion. Elle travaille depuis vingt ans au sein d’un groupe bancaire international. « Idoles » est son premier ouvrage. |
